Growing a Better Kansas

Support for Educators
— and all Labor

I will work to re-empower the State Board of Education in their authority to support educators. It's time the legislature stops interfering in education. There's one role for legislators to play in supporting Educators directly, investing in labor in our state. I will work to create conditions that raise teacher wages, and the wages for all labor.

The State needs to fully fund education, not just general education. It's time to fully fund Special Education and relieve the pressure on local school districts' budgets.

Valuing the Arts during the era of AI

The human experience is unique to our knowledge. We have never encountered another truly intelligent species. With the rise of AI, we are slowly losing the spark of humanity in our lives through art. In order to protect the human part of culture, we need to invest in our human artists to compete against the machines of Silicon Valley.

I will work to establish a Statewide program to support students of the arts in our universities to push back on the dehumanization of our culture.

Rebalancing the Tax Burden

The tax structures in Kansas are putting families at risk. For the last two decades, our homes have been subject to ever-rising property taxes driven by the inflationary market trends that have been rippling towards the center of the nation from the large urban centers.

Sales taxes are increasingly being used to make ends meet for local governments.

At the same time, megalithic corporations who put large strains on public resources are being subsidized through tax breaks and incentives, making us cover their share of the expenses they incur.

It's time to rebalance the tax burdens in our state to ensure we all contribute to our shared success, without losing our stability in the process.

Improving Elections

Our democracy has had a long run in proving successes and failures. I intend to work closely with our Secretary of State in the pursuit of fair, neutral elections that deliver the best representations for the people of Kansas.

I will also work to establish Ranked Choice Voting in the State of Kansas to bring a more effective style of elections to our state.
